Emme’s gems #41

Raise

your

STANDARDS!

The quality of effort, awareness and execution

After a weekend unplugging from social media and attending to real life celebrations like Mother’s Day, which was a lovely break, I am back with #Emmesgems#41.

Today’s quote gets attributed to @tonyrobbins who is dominant in highlighting consistently the foundation to all success: our standards.

But long before Tony Robbins, our yoga masters taught this principle.

When I practice yoga or train my conditioning in other ways, I always focus on the quality of my effort, awareness, and how I execute. This way, no matter if I only have a few minutes to practice, I know I will get the most out of it. It starts with the study of why and what I practice on the mat; over to practicing Asanas in a way where I apply all the knowledge and my unique biomechanics to keep enhancing my alignment (know thyself). It ends at fully surrendering to relaxation in a way where I not only fully recharge but focus wholeheartedly for the entire time.

Some call this intense…But this is MY STANDARD, and nobody can do this for me. It is an internal process of expectation, and the best thing is: if you keep practicing this in one area of your life, e.g., on your yoga mat, you will realize that over time, it will spill over to other areas of your life.

Now sometimes we need help, and we need someone to help us raise our standards, a coach, a teacher, a mentor. Someone to hold us accountable and help us with teachings of how to accomplish raising our standards and do the necessary steps to get from one place to the next and the next and the next…

Is this the easy path, oh no. Will our coach challenge us so that we can grow beyond our comfort zone? Absolutely yes. Will this always FEEL GOOD? Well, you know the answer to that.

Is there an area in your life, where you know you need to raise your standards? I would love to hear about it.

For me, beyond my daily yoga practice, I am consistently working on improving my relationship with social media and not concentrating so much on all the noise out there, but on creating connections with like-minded spirits. I know you are out there somewhere…I would love to connect with you…shine your light brightly so I can see you.
