You can’t look for a SOLUTION if you don’t UNDERSTAND the problem
A Solution to the Problem
So often in my many years of teaching yoga group classes, I have been left with this nagging feeling that this system of offering “all levels” classes is NOT serving our students well.
Have you ever asked yourself why studios/gyms offer all-levels classes? Well, the first reason is that it is CONVENIENT, giving us this all-inclusive feeling that everybody is welcomed, and can do it. On the surface a very noble and positive intention.
But underneath, you will find the truth is, that all-levels-classes are NOT the best option if you care about helping your students grow and improve their lives. So the real reason is, from a business perspective it is so much more efficient to cram as many people into a class as you possibly can.

There is a natural process of learning lessons in your yoga class, and many different factors determine how you will progress on your yoga journey. Since this practice is grounded in exploration and getting to know yourself, we cannot offer a generic one-size-fits-all yoga solution to everybody who walks through our studio doors without evaluating and assessing what the individuals’ status and needs are.
That is the reason why I believe if you want to learn yoga you need to start at the beginning – through dialogue with a personal yoga teacher/coach.
In my private sessions and yoga group immersions, I can give my students something that is impossible to give in an all-levels-pop-up class: a thorough assessment of their aches and pains, the biomechanics of their body, their stressors and challenges, their desires and goals, their daily habits and choices. I can get a glimpse of how they ended up here.

Only then can I modify and adapt my teaching to their individual needs. I can guide them accordingly to their level of understanding. AND THAT my dear Yoginis makes all the difference in the world…
